Huntsville gets 55 inches of rain a year, a lot of it in two-inch-an-hour bursts, onto roofs shaded by oaks, maples and the pines of Monte Sano and south Huntsville. Five-inch builder gutters overflow behind the fascia and rot it; clogged gutters back water under the first course of shingles; downspouts that dump at the foundation cause the crawl-space and slab problems every home inspector in Madison County writes up. The fix is boring and reliable: six-inch seamless aluminum sized to the roof area, oversized downspouts, hidden hangers every 24 inches, micro-mesh guards under trees, and the fascia repaired before the gutter goes on.
We run seamless gutters on site in 0.032 aluminum in the standard colors, install with hidden hangers screwed into the rafter tails, and pitch them so they drain. Guards are stainless micro-mesh on an aluminum frame — the kind that sheds leaves, seed pods and shingle grit — not foam inserts or plastic screens. Downspouts go to extensions or buried drain lines so water leaves the foundation.

Questions we get about gutters
Five-inch or six-inch?
Six-inch on two-story houses, steep roofs and any roof over about 2,000 square feet per run — it carries 40 percent more water and clogs less. Five-inch is fine on small ranches without big trees.
Do gutter guards actually work?
Micro-mesh does — leaves and seeds slide off stainless mesh and the frame doesn't sag. Screens and foam clog within a season under oaks.
Can you install gutters with my new roof?
Yes — usually the day after, so the drip edge and gutter apron are done together and the fascia is checked while the eave is open.
My gutters overflow in one spot. Why?
Usually a valley dumping into one place, a clogged downspout, or lost pitch. A splash guard, an added downspout or a re-hang fixes it — cheaper than replacing.
Do you repair fascia?
Yes, before the gutter goes on. Painted fascia lasts a few years here; aluminum-wrapped lasts decades.
How long does installation take?
One day for most houses, including tear-off of the old gutters and haul-away.
