Roofing in Athens

Roofing for Athens and Limestone County

Twenty-five minutes down 72: a historic downtown with old roofs and chimneys, new subdivisions filling in toward Madison, and the same hail track as the rest of North Alabama.

Quiet street of 1990s brick homes in south Huntsville with Monte Sano in the background

Athens is growing toward Madison along Highway 72 and I-65 — the new subdivisions east of town, the neighborhoods off Lindsay Lane and Highway 31 — while the historic district around the courthouse square keeps its 1900s–1950s houses with steep roofs, chimneys, porch roofs and the flashing problems that come with age. Limestone County's farmland in between is farmhouses, barns and shops, most of them metal. Hail crosses the county most springs.

We serve Athens for replacements, storm claims, metal and repairs. City of Athens permits inside the limits, Limestone County outside; the historic district has design guidelines for visible roof material. Older homes get a roofer who understands porch roofs and chimneys; the new subdivisions get the same hail-claim and replacement work we do in Madison.

Questions from Athens homeowners

Do you really come to Athens?

Yes — replacements, storm claims and anything with a crew day in it. Small repairs are scheduled when a truck is already on that side of the county.

What are the rules in the historic district?

Design guidelines for visible roof material and color; we submit when the visible material is changing. Repairs and like-for-like replacement generally don't need review.

Who pulls the permit?

City of Athens inside the limits, Limestone County outside.

Do you do metal on farms?

Yes — house, barn and shop, and the gutters and drainage that go with them.
